What Happens in Writing Circles?

IGNITE YOUR CREATIVITY: We write to prompts designed to spark deep self-expression, encouraging you to explore the hidden layers of your authentic voice.

WRITING IN CONNECTION: While your writing journey remains personal, we share a space of collective support where your voice can safely emerge and expand.

BRAVE SHARING: If it feels right, you’re invited to share what you’ve written. There’s no pressure—only a safe space to be heard, if you choose.

EMPOWERING REFLECTIONS: We listen deeply and reflect back what resonates—what’s strong, clear, or moving—celebrating the beauty in each person’s words.

What you won't find here:

NO CRITIQUE: This space is about empowering and amplifying your voice, not judging it. Feedback focuses on strengths, not what’s “wrong.”

NO RULES OF TECHNIQUE: We celebrate your voice as it naturally flows, without trying to mold it into rigid forms or literary techniques.

NO ‘TEACHING’: We’re here to witness and honor your creative genius, to unearth what’s already within, rather than impose external rules or lessons.

Permission to Write. No Critique.

Why Join Us?

Reclaim Your Voice, Rekindle Your Light: Unbind your authentic voice, the one dimmed by life’s challenges. Strengthen your confidence and self-trust to speak boldly, set boundaries, and express your truth unapologetically.

Transformation Through Expression: Writing is more than words on a page—it’s a path to healing. Combine your creative voice with somatic and energetic tools that support emotional release, nervous system regulation, and profound personal transformation.

Joyful, Supportive Community: Connect with like-minded writers who, like you, are seeking creativity, healing, and joy. Our group offers a non-judgmental, nurturing space where your voice is celebrated and encouraged, without critique or the pressure to be ‘perfect.’

What to Expect

Release, Heal, and Grow: Through writing, you’ll share your story, access deeper levels of self-expression, and experience healing. Our blend of energy work and somatic practices helps you move through stress, trauma, and creative blocks with more ease and grace.

Creative Freedom, No Pressure to Publish: We’re not here to perfect your writing for publication, unless that’s your goal. We’re here to unbind your voice, to embrace your most authentic self-expression, and to enjoy the creativity and joy that comes from writing for you.

Weekly & Bi-Weekly Circles: Join our weekly online writing circle from anywhere, or meet in person every two weeks if you’re local to the Okanagan. Together, we write, share, and support each other’s creative and healing journeys. (Details for in-person meetings here.)

What writers say?

Kasia’s prompts allowed me to let go of worrying about what I was writing. It opened up a deeper part of myself so that I could write more freely and from my truth. The reflections of other participants in the circle were so validating, supportive and highlighted different parts of my writing piece that I couldn’t see myself. This encouraged to write more. The writing process itself was powerful and opened up my imagination to using words in wild, wonderful, quirky and funny ways that I wasn't doing before. If you're looking to unblock yourself and get freer with your own expression through writing, I recommend Kasia's groups for opening up, moving through writer' blocks, and reclaiming your own free voice again.

I always appreciate a container that's held well. From the very start of the session, Kasia outlined the intention of the space and held that intention as we moved through the writing prompt, the free write, and the closing. It was a sturdy and safe place to bring the words that were on my heart.

Kasia is passionate about helping others find their voice in the written form. She leads her sessions with enthusiasm and gentle consideration using lots of unexpected tricks to help stimulate your pen. I would definitely attend another writing session with Kasia.

Who is this group for?

For anyone who wants to explore their authentic voice through writing. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting, this group is for those who seek personal growth, healing, and transformation through self-expression. If you feel called to write but are held back by self-doubt, fear, or past trauma, this community is here to support you.

Do I need prior writing experience?

No prior writing experience is necessary! Our group is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to writers of all levels. The focus is on self-expression and healing, not on perfecting your writing skills. Whether you’ve never written before or have been writing for years, you’ll find a supportive space to explore your voice.

How are the meetings structured?

Each meeting will include a combination of writing, sharing, and somatic energy practice. We start with a grounding exercise to help everyone settle in, followed by intentional writing 5-7 minutes writing to a prompt to get our creative juices revved up. There will be time for voluntary sharing, where you can read your work in a safe, non-judgmental environment. We’ll also incorporate somatic and energy healing techniques to help you process and release any emotions that come up.

How do somatic and energy healing practices integrate with writing?

Somatic and energy healing practices are integrated into our writing sessions to help you connect more deeply with your body and emotions. These practices can include breathwork, guided sensory work, and energy balancing techniques. By combining these modalities with writing, you can access deeper layers of self-awareness, release trapped emotions, and promote overall well-being. This holistic approach enhances the therapeutic benefits of writing and supports your journey of self-discovery and healing.

What if I’m not comfortable sharing my writing with the group?

Sharing your writing is completely voluntary. We understand that it can be intimidating, especially at first. You are welcome to participate at your own pace and comfort level. The main goal is for you to feel safe and supported as you explore your voice. If you prefer to keep your writing private, that's perfectly okay.

Do I need to attend each session?

Your attendance is not mandatory at each writing session. However there is a reason why we call writing a practice. The more you show up for yourself and your writing, the easier it will flow. It is up to you how much or how little you choose to commit.

What do I bring?

Whatever you wish to write with. Paper and a pen or your laptop or tablet. (Writing implements are not provided at in person meetings.)

How do I join?

For the In Person meetings, simply show up at the Rutland Public Library on the scheduled days. We begin at 6:00 pm sharp.

PLEASE NOTE

THIS IS NOT A THERAPY GROUP. While you are welcome to write about anything you wish, including past challenges and traumas, joys and triumphs, space will be held to celebrate your courage in expressing your voice. We will engage in simple somatic and energy practices to help your system move energies that come up as a result of what you write. However, if you require support in healing and releasing the trapped stress and traumas out of your body, nervous system and energy field, please schedule a session with Kasia HERE
